EZIKO Theatre Laboratory, a local arts programme set to provide an
arena for local artistes to review and critique their artistic products,
ended on a high note on Wednesday with a blazing jamboree at Indlovu
Youth Centre in Tshabalala.

The show run under the theme “Goodbye 2013-Hello 2014” was well attended with about 300 fans gathering despite continuous rains and the chilly weather which could have stopped them. Local artistes and arts groups that had been billed to serenade the audience included Iyasa, Simunye Simunye, Khuxxman, Ezimnyama, Iwisa Music and Dance, Imbongi kaZulu Omnyama, Khaya Arts Productions, Rainbow Blaze, Kid Ego, Victory Siyanqoba and Amajaha Embube although only a handful managed to attend the fiesta.

Iyasa came out on high as usual with a well-cheographed dance which
set the audience ablaze. The much-travelled dance ensemble showcased
their typical military dance which rightfully set the pace of the show.
Iwisa Music and Dance which has made a terrific comeback after a
sabbatical from the showbiz industry returned with a well packaged
imbube production which mesmerised the audience. They have already vowed
to dazzle entertainment scenes with a unique a cappella tunes.
Ecstatic Simunye Simunye Arts, Ezimnyama Dance Group and Khaya Arts
productions took turns to serenade the audience with their scintillating
dance routines — rendering the celebrations a grand finale.
Rainbow Blaze Marimba Band — a Tshabalala-based outfit, proved their
flair on the mbira as they drove the audience into jubilance with their
well-harmonised tunes.
Not to be outdone was Sunduza Music and Dance Company which
performing alongside the United Kingdom-born musician Janet Wood. They
performed an emotional piece dedicated to “Dr Banda” (the late Sam
Sunduza) who undoubtedly made immense contributions to the music
industry in Zimbabwe and the whole world.
“This was enough evidence that Bulawayo has got talented youths with a
potential to earn a living through the arts,” Desire Moyo the organiser
of the show said.
